To make matters worse, she has to visit her grumpy uncle a few times before Christmas! But, Kit gives her Mother a little surprise on Christmas! I didn't tell you the whole story yet, so read the book!

Book - Julie Story Collection by Megan McDonald

I loved this collection! I'm a fan of the American Girl books. I think that while reading them, you lean about how life was like in that time. Julie's story is set in 1974. This collection has 6 stories inside. Julie is great. In each story, she faces many changes and problems. But in the end, everything always works out! Great read!

Book - The King's Daughter by Suzanne Martel
Image - 2 stars

This fairly slow book "The King's Daughter" has some eventful and thrilling scenes. People would like the book because it makes you understand how life would be for Jeanne the main character. It shows this because it talks about what the characters do in their day to day life. It also shows this when the author talks about how they struggle to live and some fears of the characters. The author describes this very well because she uses real facts about what people would do in that era like hunt for fur. People would dislike this book because it is extremely slow. It is slow because the author describes every scene and it's about the life of someone and the new challenges she has to face. There are only a few action scenes. I would give this book a 3 out of 10 rating. I would rate it this because the book is too slow and I like books with action.

Book - The King's Daughter by Suzanne Martel
Image - 3 stars

There's a reason why The King's Daughter won the Ruth Schwartz Award in 1981. The King's Daughter is the historical tale of a young Frenchwoman by the name of Jeanne Chatel. Like the other hundreds of lower class women, Jeanne immigrates to New France under the sponsorship of King Louis XIV. Having said this, this is the kind of book you might read and get caught in all its suspense and adventurousness.

It is written in the third person viewpoint of Jeanne, which occasionally makes the book have a limited point of view. I found that it may have been a better choice if the author had written in first person instead.

However, The King's Daughter is certain to take you back more than a hundred years ago, whether written in third person or not. With its heart-warming storyline and timeless setting, this book will make you feel as if you really were Jeanne - as it has done to me.

I read the entire series. It was so good that I couldn't put it down. Silverwings are bats. Shade, a silverwing newborn goes exploring. Now in this story bats are banned from being in the sun. Shade sees a glimpse of the sun and an owl catches him. The rules are that if any bat sees the sun, they belong to the owls. So that starts a war between the bats and the owls. But Shade discovers cannibal bats, bats who eat other bats! Shade lost his father and he's determined to find him. But, even with a new friend, can Shade escape Goth, a cannibal bat's trap? I won't spoil the ending! Read the whole series- Silverwing, Sunwing, Firewing, Darkwing. It's a really great series!
